Fall Bird and Tree Walk, in partnership with the Little Falls Tree Project, and in recognition of Active Aging Week
PCV is partnering with the Little Falls Tree Project, on Sun., Oct. 4, from 8 to 9:30 am, for a Fall Bird & Tree Walk, as part of our celebration of Active Aging Week.
Join Pete Givan, a local birder for over 50 years, and local ISA-certified arborist Annika Haksar, on a walk to discover and count the birds in the area and see the new inhabited nest boxes! Annika Haksar will highlight trees as we go and let you know how to identify them. We'll also point out which are our bird's favorites!
Bring your own binoculars and please download the Merlin and iNaturalist apps if you have a smart phone. We will use them to identify birds and their songs.
Meet at The STUMP (upper playground, 4700 Norwood Drive, Chevy Chase, Md), with proper shoes and clothes for the weather for an approximately 1 mile walk on uneven terrain. The playground is about 20 minutes from Potomac Village via River Road; 23 minutes from downtown Rockville via I-270.
Registration will be necessary. Details on registration coming soon.
PCV members who need transportation: If you need a ride to come, please indicate that you need a ride when you register for this event by setting the ride field to "need a ride". Everyone, if you can offer a ride, please indicate that as well.
Thank you to Diane for connecting us with the Little Falls Tree Project and organizing this program for PCV.
