This month, we're very pleased to welcome Alexandra Michaels, a long-time mixed media and watercolor artist and teacher. 

Alex will show and will talk about her work.
 
Artist bio: Alexandra Michaels has been artist-in-residence at the Stone Tower at Glen Echo Park and has exhibited at Rockville Art League, Artomatic, Artery 717, Magical Montgomery, JCC in
Rockville, Yellow Barn and many other venues. Her mixed media watercolor work was featured in the exhibit “Earth and Fire” at the Del Ray Artisans Gallery in Alexandria, VA. Ms. Michaels also had a solo show at Artists and Makers Studios in Rockville, featuring her “Dress as Icon” Series, and has also exhibited at the Yellow Barn Art Studio at Glen Echo Park, many venues through the Washington Water Color Association, and through the Rossmoor Art Guild at Leisure World in Silver Spring, MD.

In the Montgomery County Public Schools, Ms. Michaels taught many levels of art at the high school
level including all types of media such as drawing, watercolor, acrylic painting, mixed media, sculpture,
ceramics, and black & white photography. The Maryland Art Education Association honored her with
the Educator of the Year award both in 1994 and in 2013. Ms. Michaels is the author/illustrator of The Kids’ Multicultural Art Book, 1993, Williamson Publishing Co., Vermont and was recently re-released in full color by Worthy Publishing.
