Meet The Author: Laurence Carter, on his book, "From Grief to Love"

hosted by the Connie Morella Library

Mr. Carter will discuss his book "From Grief to Love", an honest and uplifting account of overcoming loss that offers solace and hope to anyone who has experienced bereavement. Q&A and book signing.

After losing his wife, Melitta, to cervical cancer, Laurence Carter embarked on a 4,314-mile coastal walk around England and Wales. His mission: to raise awareness that cervical cancer can be eliminated in a generation. This inspiring memoir recounts how his journey transformed from one of grief to one of hope and renewed love. Through poignant, funny and heartwarming vignettes, Carter takes readers along as he travels Britain’s beautiful coastline, chronicling both his physical trek and emotional recovery. The BBC, Bethesda Magazine and several other magazines and news sites reported on the author's walk across England, where he has raised funds for cancer research and advocated for cervical cancer prevention.

Mr. Carter, who grew up in Brundall, a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, now lives in Bethesda, where he enjoys walking his dog, running, an occasional beer, seeing his three adult children, and strolling along the canal with his fiancée, whom he met as a result of the walk.

Copies of the book are available online through the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County online book store. All proceeds from the sales of the book will go to charity.
